About Impact
Impact Community Development Corporation
Impact CDC is a not for profit supporting organization for Impact Services Corporation that was incorporated in May 2002. Impact CDC was created by Impact services to carry out economic development and housing activities in Eastern Philadelphia.
Impact CDC has its own Board of Directors, federal tax identification number, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Charitable Registration number and prepares its own IRS 990.
In July 2004, Impact CDC signed its first contract for neighborhood cleaning services with Port Richmond Industrial Development Enterprises (PRIDE). Impact CDC is still delivering services under this contract.
Impact CDC received its first grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) in 2005. This funding allowed Impact CDC to purchase the necessary equipment to clean commercial corridors, maintain vacant lots and respond to other beautification projects in the community.
In 2006, Impact CDC was asked to become the “developer” in the project now known as the Twins at Powder Mill (the Twins). The Twins project will see 50 new twin homes constructed at the intersection of Castor and Wingohocking in the Juniata Park section of Philadelphia. Impact CDC acquired the land and settled on the financing for the Twins in December 2007. Construction has commenced and the houses will be constructed by June 2009.
Recreation has been identified as a key component of Impact CDC’s community development efforts. The Twins are located within one block of Juniata Golf Course, Picolli Playground and the Juniata Boys and Girls Club. To add to the recreational offerings, the First Tee Philadelphia will occupy a teach site adjacent to the Twins that will focus on elementary school youth in the neighborhood.
