American Street Erie Ave Business Association (ASEABA)
Unified action focused on the challenges of industrial companies doing business in Philadelphia lies at the core of ASEABA’s work.
Serving the businesses located in the American Street and Erie Avenue industrial corridors; monthly meetings afford business owners and managers opportunities to share concerns, and develop strategies for area improvements. The participation of staffers from city departments of L&I, Commerce, PIDC, Police, and City Council speeds information flow and the resolution of problems.
Joint action was responsible for the 1998 establishment of a Keystone Opportunity Zone (KOZ) in parts of the area. This state program offered 10-year tax relief for new businesses coming into the area.
Twenty-seven businesses have collaborated in funding a private security force that provides 24-7 patrolling of the area 365 days of the year.
The area continues to attract businesses with industrial space rents currently available for $2.00 to $8.00 per square foot. For a list of available property in the area, click here (pdf).
