Economic Development

Aramingo Business Association (ABA)

Home of the big box stores, fast food establishments, and many area super markets, Aramingo Avenue has seen significant development since 2005 as Target, Applebee’s and Forman Mills, have moved to the area. The attractiveness of the location, just two minutes from the Allegheny exit of Route 95 and minutes north of the blossoming neighborhoods of Northern Liberties, Fishtown, and Richmond, is becoming increasingly well known.

The Aramingo Business Association, founded with Impact’s initiative in 2005, aims to serve the 150 retailers and service providers on Aramingo between Allegheny and Wheatsheaf Lane, increase access to employment for local residents, and improve the environment for business.

ABA has helped extend bus routes to serve new stores, improved safety and cooperation with the police, and is in the midst of organizing a Business Improvement District for the area.

Organizing a Business Improvement District (BID) and fostering appropriate development of the 25-acre site formerly occupied by Tioga Pipe are key focal points of activity.
