Re-entry Services for Ex-offenders

A chance to get back in the game

A little help goes a long way when you get out of prison. Ask any of the 650,000 who return to the community each year from America’s prisons without jobs, stable homes, or hope for the future.

Impact Service Corporation has worked with ex-offenders since 1974, and understands the challenges of re-entry.

Intense work with ex-offenders during the C.S. Mott Foundation’s Fathers at Work project earned national acclaim, and demonstrated the powerful impact that a comprehensive approach to reintegration could have on recidivism. At the three-year point, only 7 percent of the 417 program participants had returned to prison; 70 percent is the national average.

Selection as winner of Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Strengthening Families Award, and the Innovative Program Design Award from the Post-Secondary Program Network (PEPnet) has highlighted the success of this innovative work.

Since 2000, Impact has served 1,855 ex-offenders, and placed 958 in full-time employment.

In August 2007, Impact opened Philadelphia’s second Re-entry One Stop Center, capping almost a decade of work focused on helping ex-offenders successfully return to the community, get jobs, and rebuild family relations.

With capacity to serve over 1,200 ex-offenders a year, the One Stop offers a comprehensive set of services on a walk-in basis. In addition to on-site services, other critical resources are accessible through streamlined referral processes to strategic partners that include Adult Probation and Parole, Office of Supportive Housing, Philadelphia Prison System, Department of Behavioral Health, and Philadelphia Defender’s Office.

Impact also operates other programs, both prison and community-based, assisting persons directed to them through the courts and Department of Corrections.
