Community

Impact Services works with community members and local business owners to build a strong and healthy Kensington

Empowered Neighbors, Strong Community

Our community connectors and outreach coordinators work with both neighbors and city officials to stabilize vacant lots and buildings, clean trash, organize events, and advocate for Kensington. Every summer we organize the PlayStreets Program, which ensures a safe place for kids to play and a nutritious meal to eat. We are currently working with NKCDC and LISC to create a trauma-informed community development model.

Rebuild Philadelphia

Rebuild—a city program made possible by the Philadelphia Beverage Tax—will invest hundreds of millions of dollars in improving community facilities throughout the city. Both the Heitzman and McVeigh Rec Centers have been selected as Rebuild sites. The process places the needs and wants of residents at the center of the project: we engage with neighbors, ask for feedback on the needs and wants for the rec centers, and develop new designs that meet accessibility requirements, are within budget, and reflect the input of the community.

Building Economic Resilience

Through the Impact Loan Fund, Impact is helping entrepreneurs build the local economy and create new jobs. Our corridor managers work with current and aspiring business owners on Kensington and Aramingo Avenues to ensure a strong neighborhood economy.
